Senator Dori ConnorWASHINGTON, D.C. - Delaware State Senator Dorinda A. "Dori" Connor was honored with the 2005 WiLL Pacesetters Award at the WiLL/WAND national conference in Washington D.C.

WiLL, the Women Legislators' Lobby, is an affiliate of WAND (Women's Action for New Directions) and is a national non-partisan network of women legislators who work together to influence federal budget policy and budget priorities.  WiLL is a well-respected, powerful presence in state and national politics and has members in all 50 states representing millions of constituents.

The announcement of the award states "WiLL Pacesetters are recognized for their noteworthy legislative service, their contributions to sound, progressive policy, and their groundbreaking leadership in the states.  The achievements of these leaders reflect a commitment to excellence and a resolve that the voices of women of all races and stations in life are fully and fairly represented at the policy table. Congratulations to the 2005 class of Pacesetters.  We salute and appreciate their work."

"State Senator Dori Connor has served in the Delaware State Senate since 1997. She worked side by side with her late husband State Senator Robert Connor for 23 years in constituent and community service.  She earned a music education degree and was a music educator in the Colonial School District for eleven years prior to serving in the legislature."

Senator Connor has also served in leadership positions with the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) as a Committee Chair, Board Member and Member of the Executive Committee.

Senator Connor said "it is truly an honor to have my work recognized by my valued colleagues from throughout the nation."
